Job description
The CM works closely with stylists, fashion designers, technical fashion designers, and suppliers to turn out new pieces, to select fabrics and colors, and to define the looks and the clothing details.
One of the main CM missions is to follow fashion industry trends to assure that the collections are timely and attractive for the current market. The CM analyzes current trends, consumer preferences and sales data to make creative and profit-driven decisions.
The CM also manages the collection development process. The CM organizes the production schedule, allocates the necessary resources, and assures the follow-up from conception to the cutting ticket to the manufacturing of the garments.
The CM works in close collaboration with stylists, fashion designers, technical fashion designers, and suppliers to turn out new pieces, selecting fabrics and colors, defining the looks and the clothing details.
With highly developed skills, experience, and expertise in collection management, a CM can move up the career ladder towards artistic director, creative director, or product development managerial roles in a fashion house. Some equally choose to launch their own brands or become independent consultants.
